These coaches were origionally open thirds when first produced in 1951, the abolishment of third class in 1956 meant that these coaches were uprated to 2nd class. This model has the origional 3rd class seating style which is slightly different to the later 2nd class seats. The coach had seating for 39, there was a single seat next to the door oposite the single toilet. The coach had a brake compartment and a small section for parcels. Some of the later BSOs were converted to Micro Buffets, this involved removing 1 seating bay.

This is a body only kit, you will need bogies to complete.

It uses a strong construction where the side panels consist of a 2mm clear plastic panel. This forms the main strength of the body and also doubles as the glazing. The outside of the coach sides, consists of 1mm thick facia panels, with molded door hinges, door stops, rain strips and window holes.

The top of the coach sides are supported by a 2x10mm aluminium bar, this ensures the top is rigid and forms a base for the roof clips.

The kit also inludes a one piece molded solebar/floor section with support beams, one piece precurved roof panel and underframe detailing such as trussing battery boxes, dynamo, brake cylinders and rodding.

Seats will come all in one colour, this colour will vary between packs from, blue, green, red, brown. If you want a particular colour, we can make them on request.

Not included are buffers, couplings, roof vents or bogies.
