Class 2021 0-6-0 Pannier Tank (Nos. 2021-2100, 2101-2160)

This class of engine was built at Wolverhampton between 1897 and 1905 and consisted of 140 locomotives, Nos. 2021-2160. The class was very similar to the 850 class but with a 12 inch longer wheelbase at the rear. Originally they were built as saddle tanks but by 1930 most had pannier tanks. By 1944 only three had been withdrawn and by the start of BR 120 were still in service. 2069 was the last to be withdrawn in April 1958. The kit can be built as a live steam or electric model, and has two different cabs and bunkers, to allow considerable variety. It consists of three sheets of brass etch and one of nickel silver. The frames are laser cut steel with brass spacers. Wheels, as per the prototype, are manufactured by

Slaters in glass reinforced nylon with stainless steel tyres and are suitable for both steam or electric models. The electric version uses the standard PDG100 Bühler Motor Gearbox and includes the AM2263 GWR Pannier Cab Detail Kit. The steam version has a twin cylinder steam motor powering the front wheel set together with a centre flue gas fired boiler, lubricator, gas tank and standard gas control valve, pressure gauge and associated pipe work and connectors. The model is ideal for radio control as the single control valve on the motor controls both direction and speed. The kit builds into an extremely well detailed and accurate model. Length 411mm, Width 110mm, Height 166mm.

Class 48xx (Later 14xx) 0-4-2 Auto Tank (Nos. 4800-4874, 5800-5818)

DS1508The Auto Tanks as they were often called were designed by CME C B Collet in 1932 to replace aged 517 class 0-4-2T locomotives. Slaters wheels with stainless steel tyres and a 1:40 brass gearbox and motor provide the power for the screw together brass and steel chassis. The kit uses laser cut steel main frames and coupling rods, with brass etch chassis overlays, footplate, cab and bunker areas. Note this kit has now been upgraded to simplify building, and is supplied with a one piece resin moulding for the smokebox, boiler, dome and Belpaire firebox. Turned cast brass and whitemetal castings add the necessary detail, along with a full cab detail pack. Motor-gearbox is our PDG103 unit. Length 400mm, Width 116mm, Height 165mm.

RTR Class 45xx 2-6-2 Prairie Tank (Nos. 4500-4529)

RC1506This Prairie Tank was designed by G.J.Churchward and built at Swindon in 1906 for branch line use. Many of them worked with ‘B Set’ coach sets and GRS has therefore decided to produce RTR brass models of this type of train as they must surely form the archetypal GWR branch line passenger train. Our 45xx has straight tanks, optional outside steam pipes and straight front drop end (giving this number series). The Electric version is supplied in unpainted brass with stainless steel tyres and full cab detail, whilst the Live Steam version is supplied painted with gas fired twin cylinder steam motor, pressure gauge, full cab detail, and 40Hz radio control system. Full painting and lining service available. Length 500mm, Width 120mm, Height 190mm.

Class 1361 0-6-0ST (Nos. 1361-1365)

A series of five engines based on the earlier open cab 1392 class, they were built at Swindon in 1909 and were the last saddle tanks to be built. The GRS G Scale model kit is very similar to the class 1392 above with the exception of the brass cab on the latter, and some minor details in the castings.  Length 345mm, Width 117mm, Height 159mm.
